In Bishkek, an evening of remembrance was held for the 90th anniversary of the people's writer of Kyrgyzstan, Beksultan Zhakiev.

On January 16, a memorial evening was held in Bishkek dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the people's writer of Kyrgyzstan, Beksultan Zhakiev, who is also a Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic and a laureate of the Toktogul State Prize. The writer was awarded the Order of "Manas" III degree and the "Dank" medal.

As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture, the solemn event began with the laying of flowers at the monument of Beksultan Zhakiev at the Ala-Archa cemetery. The evening took place at the National Theater "Manas," where representatives of the cultural sphere, government structures, creative intelligentsia, and the writer's relatives gathered.

The participants of the evening paid tribute to Beksultan Zhakiev's contribution to Kyrgyz literature and dramaturgy. They recalled his life path, creative achievements, and active public activities.

Throughout his career, Zhakiev held various leadership positions, including work at the "Kyrgyzfilm" studio, in the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR, the State Committee for Cinematography, and in the Union of Theater Workers of Kyrgyzstan. He also served as a state advisor to the president and headed the state directorate "Manas–1000."

The drama "Atanyn tagdyry" ("Fate of the Father"), written by Zhakiev, made a significant contribution to national literary and theatrical art, causing a wide public resonance. This work has been staged more than 500 times at the Kyrgyz Drama Theater and over 300 times in theaters in Almaty, Shymkent, Zhambyl, and Semey in Kazakhstan. Based on this drama, an opera (directed by V. Gusev) and a ballet (inspired by "Saadak kakty" by E. Jumabaev) were created. Many works of Beksultan Zhakiev have been translated into Russian, Yakut, Kazakh, and other languages, and continue to be staged on theater stages abroad.
