"On Ashar Street in the Ak-Orgo new building, there is a fire station that has already been opened but is not yet operational. What is the issue?" — this question was raised on January 23 at a meeting of the permanent commission on social issues by deputy Erjan Nasiraliyev of the Bishkek City Council ("Adilet").

Colonel Cholponbaev from the Ministry of Emergency Situations explained that although the fire station had been put into operation, the staffing levels for it had not been established.

According to specialists, the capital lacks fire stations, especially considering the increase in facilities in Bishkek during the administrative-territorial reform. One fire station should serve a radius of 5 km. In this regard, the president approved a new staffing level. Currently, the staffing has been completed, and since January 18, the ninth fire and rescue station has been fully operational. It has two fire crews and all the necessary equipment, which is now functioning at full capacity, he added.
