Participants of the event will be able to discuss the following key questions:

- What is meant by the term sizism?;

- What is the place of sizism in the context of Central Asia.

Batyr Zhaliev, born on December 15, 1935, in the village of Kashgar-Kyshtak (Osh District, Kyrgyz ASSR, RSFSR), passed away on May 30, 2020, in Bishkek. He was not only a Soviet but also a Kyrgyz artist, receiving the title of People's Artist of Kyrgyzstan in 1993.

Zhaliev graduated from the Frunze Art College in 1964 and became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1968. From 1977 to 1982, he headed the Osh regional branch of the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz SSR.

In his works, the artist sought to reflect the achievements of workers in agriculture and industry, as well as the successes of the republic in these areas. His paintings, such as "Industrial Osh" (1966), "Osh is Being Built" (1972), and "Haiderkan Combine" (1974), represent holistic images of workers from large southern enterprises and highlight the best qualities of the working class of the republic. One of his most significant works is the genre-portrait piece "Toguz Korgool" (1974). In graphics, he created artistic images of the Kyrgyz intelligentsia and developed the artistic school of painting "Sizism," which became an independent direction in art.
