The U.S. Central Command has officially confirmed the arrival of a strike group led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln in the Middle East. The journey to this region took more than a week from the southeastern shores of Asia.
According to information published by the New York Times, a strike on Iran could be carried out within the next 48 hours.
Since December, large-scale protests have been taking place in Iran. Donald Trump has previously supported the protesters, urging them to continue their struggle and warning Iranian authorities of possible military intervention if the repression against demonstrators continues.
According to the U.S.-based non-governmental organization HRANA, 3,090 people have died as a result of violence during the suppression of protests.
Recent reports indicate that protests have spread to 585 locations in 186 cities, including 31 provinces, and the number of detainees exceeds tens of thousands.
The Iranian air defense has been placed on high alert.
It is worth noting that the internet has been down in the country for more than two weeks, and authorities have cut off mobile communication.
The mass protests, triggered by economic difficulties and the decline of the local currency, have been ongoing since late December 2025.
