According to the deputy, the day before, the head of the affairs management reported that 916 traders would be relocated and receive their places. At the moment, according to information from the akim of the Lenin district, there are about 8,500 trading places at the Osh bazaar.
Minister of Construction Nurdin Oruntaev clarified that the president's affairs management is responsible for the project, while Bishkek's vice-mayor Ramiz Aliyev noted that the number of traders needing places is still being clarified. Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev added that the authorities are striving to ensure that all market participants have places at the new facility and that the government as a whole is responsible for the progress of the project.
Kuanychbek Kongantiev expressed concern about the lack of clarity regarding the issues related to the relocation of traders. He proposed creating an interdepartmental commission that would include all interested parties so that people would know where to turn for information and what the rules for relocation, deadlines, and principles for distributing places are.
In response, Daniyar Amangeldiev stated that a working group would be formed next week together with the mayor's office to ensure transparency in the process.
It is worth noting that the authorities of Bishkek began discussing the relocation of the Osh market back in 2023. The new market is being built in the northern part of the capital, outside the central area of the city. The project includes a large trading complex with covered pavilions, storage facilities, necessary engineering infrastructure, and parking.
At the end of January 2026, it was announced that work on the trading premises at the new site had begun. However, among entrepreneurs, there were concerns that the old market might close before the new facility is fully ready and that trading places would be provided on a paid basis.
