At today's parliamentary meeting, Deputy Tabyldy Muratbekov announced the creation of a youth council under the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh.

According to Muratbekov, the new structure will promote the active involvement of youth in the socio-political, socio-economic, and cultural life of the country, as well as protect the interests of young citizens and develop initiatives for youth policy.

The council, operating under the speaker, plans to hold quarterly meetings with youth, including local council deputies, entrepreneurs, educators, medical professionals, and activists. It will consist of people's deputies and representatives from various government structures who will discuss relevant issues and initiatives from the youth, bringing them to the parliament for discussion.

It is also planned to create a school for young professionals, conduct campaigns, flash mobs, and events for international experience exchange.

Members of the youth council will work on a voluntary basis and without compensation. Tabyldy Muratbekov noted that if necessary, project documentation will be developed to attract grants from international organizations.

As an example of the need to create the council, he cited the experience of neighboring countries. For instance, Uzbekistan has an Agency for Youth Affairs, employing 10,000 people with a budget of $36.7 million, while Kazakhstan's Committee for Family and Youth Affairs has 200 employees and a budget of $12 million. In Kyrgyzstan, youth policy is represented only by a department within the Ministry of Culture, which has seven employees and a budget of $435,000.

In Kyrgyzstan, youth is defined as citizens aged 14 to 35, with a total of 2.5 million individuals.

“This is our potential for development. If we direct youth in the right direction and provide support, it will guarantee our future. Of course, building new buildings, roads, and implementing large projects is important, but attention to youth must remain a priority,” concluded Tabyldy Muratbekov.
