A memorandum of understanding was signed in Geneva between the U.S. government and the United Nations, under which the United States agreed to allocate $2 billion for humanitarian needs managed by the UN.

According to information from the UN News Service, this agreement includes funding for assistance to 17 countries, including Ukraine, Haiti, Sudan, and Syria, as well as support for the Central Emergency Response Fund.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres noted that the allocated funds will enhance the organization's capacity to save lives, support the most vulnerable populations, and reduce human suffering.

A statement from the UN Secretary-General's press office emphasizes: "Every dollar counts, and we strive to use this assistance as effectively as possible to create real change for people in difficult situations."

António Guterres also urged donors, in light of the growing global humanitarian crisis, to ramp up their efforts and increase funding for humanitarian operations.
