Kyrgyzstan Discussed New Projects and Further Cooperation with UNESCO

The first meeting of the Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to UNESCO, Sadik Sher-Niyaz, with the new Director-General of the organization, Khaled Al-Anani, took place in Paris. During the meeting, the parties confirmed their desire to deepen cooperation and increase Kyrgyzstan's participation in UNESCO activities. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Kyrgyz side emphasized its commitment to the issues of cultural and historical heritage protection, noting that the country has been elected to the Executive Board of UNESCO for the 2025–2029 term. Sadik Sher-Niyaz also highlighted the achievements in sustainable development that have been made possible by political stability and economic growth, paving the way for more ambitious goals.

The priorities for Kyrgyzstan remain adaptation to climate change, protection of water and terrestrial ecosystems, combating poverty, and developing the creative industry.

The Director-General of UNESCO, Khaled Al-Anani, noted Kyrgyzstan's active participation in the organization, especially in the area of cultural initiatives. He expressed readiness to consider the possibility of providing UNESCO patronage for two significant events: the VI World Nomad Games and the International Issyk-Kul Forum named after Chinghiz Aitmatov.

The parties expressed confidence in the further expansion of cooperation and the implementation of new joint initiatives.
