International experts have begun preparing a new nomination for the optimization of the buffer zone boundaries of "Sulaiman-Too"

On January 7, the Minister of Culture of Kyrgyzstan, Mirbek Mambetaliev, along with Deputy Askarala Madaminov, held a meeting with an international expert group that arrived in the country to work on the UNESCO World Heritage site "Sacred Mountain – Sulayman-Too."

The press service of the Ministry of Culture reported that the experts will be in Kyrgyzstan from January 7 to 12, and their plans include developing new nominations that will help optimize the boundaries of the buffer zone of the site and conduct an impact assessment on the world heritage.

The composition of the international group includes:

- Dmitry Voyakin — goodwill ambassador of Kazakhstan, member of the National Commission of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO, authorized representative of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan at MondiaCult 2025, and coordinator of the "Central Asian Archaeological Landscapes" (CAAL) project from University College London (UCL);

- Kaya Waise — former president of ICOMOS Nepal, currently coordinator of the ICOMOS Regional Network for the Asia-Pacific region;

- Nargiz Aituganova — researcher in the field of cultural world heritage.

During the meeting, issues concerning the preservation of the "Sulayman-Too" site, the fulfillment of UNESCO's requirements and recommendations, as well as further steps for preparing and coordinating the updated nomination were discussed.
