“On behalf of the U.S. Embassy, we would like to extend our warmest wishes to the people of Mongolia for a happy, optimistic, and successful celebration of Tsagaan Sar!” — reports MiddleAsianNews, citing the ambassador's words in Ulaanbaatar.
My acquaintance from Mongolia noted that the current year symbolizes the Year of the Red Fire Horse, which occurs only once every 60 years. This is a time of change, innovation, and new beginnings, which, in my opinion, perfectly reflects the dynamic partnership between Mongolia and the United States. May this Year of the Fire Horse bring you and your loved ones health, happiness, and success!

This year is significant for both countries. The United States is celebrating the anniversary of "Freedom 250," dedicated to the 250th anniversary of its independence, with numerous planned events. Mongolia is preparing to celebrate the 820th anniversary of its empire, which holds an important place in world history. The U.S. Embassy is pleased to engage with Mongolian partners to celebrate these significant anniversaries and emphasizes the strong ties between our nations.
We are proud to announce that the "Ulaanbaatar Water Resources Agreement" project, funded with $462 million and supported by the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation, is on track for completion by March 31. This large-scale project includes the construction of new wells in the city, wastewater treatment, and ensuring long-term sustainability of water resources for the capital and its residents.
As part of economic cooperation, United Airlines has become the first American airline to begin flights to Mongolia this year. We will continue to collaborate with Mongolian partners to expand trade and investment opportunities. Last month, Mongolia participated in the Strategic Meeting of Ministers on Mineral Resources, organized by the U.S. Secretary of State. This year, we will work together with our partners, including Mongolia, to create a reliable and sustainable supply chain for strategic mineral resources.
Our security cooperation remains strong. The international peacekeeping exercises and training "Khaan Quest" will take place again this year, continuing our long-standing collaboration in UN peacekeeping operations.
We are also preparing to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Mongolia, which will occur in January 2027.
In all these areas, we will continue to work diligently to strengthen the relationships between the peoples and governments of our countries in this auspicious and blessed Year of the Fire Horse.
“During my three years as ambassador, Mongolia and its people have made a deep impression on me.
I am struck by the resilience and independence of the Mongolian people. I admire how you have maintained your identity and independence for centuries. Your commitment to democracy is especially impressive. You chose this path in 1990 and have remained true to it despite challenges. This is truly important. The main value of Mongolia is its people. Mongolians are warm, hospitable, and straightforward people. Americans are also known for their straightforwardness, so I appreciate the openness of the Mongolians. I also like how you respect your history and traditions, which are alive to this day.”
