Mongolia and Turkey collaborate on archaeological research in the Tuul River valley

According to information from the National Center for Cultural Heritage, this memorandum opens up opportunities for the implementation of a joint project focused on the ancient monuments of the Turkic Khaganate in the Tuul River valley. The project will pay special attention to aspects such as ethnoarchaeology, climate change, as well as the preservation and protection of historical and cultural heritage. An important element will be risk management.

The project, which is planned to be implemented over the next five years, will involve professional institutions in Mongolia working in the fields of history, archaeology, ethnology, linguistics, and natural sciences, as well as local government bodies.

As part of this project, joint archaeological and scientific research is planned, as well as the creation of a unified database that will contain the results of these studies. The agreement also implies the exchange of work results, the involvement of academic and professional experts, the organization of training courses, seminars, and scientific conferences, as well as the preparation of joint publications in the field of archaeology and cultural heritage.

It is expected that the results of the joint efforts will improve the conditions for the preservation and protection of cultural heritage sites in the Tuul River area, as well as develop measures to mitigate the effects of climate change. The project will contribute to deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of archaeological research and cultural heritage, strengthening academic ties, developing modern methods of heritage protection, and raising public awareness of cultural heritage.
