During the meeting, parliamentarians discussed a draft law on the ratification of an agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development related to the "Phase 1" project under the "One Health" program. This project aims to prevent pandemics and strengthen food systems in Central Asia. Deputy Minister of Health Ryspek Sydygaliev reported that the agreement includes plans for updating equipment and repairs in 26 laboratories.
Masabirov noted that during the pandemic, the issue of drug delivery is particularly relevant. He emphasized that there is currently no work being done to support local production.
“In 2025, a government resolution was adopted to support domestic producers. Hospitals have a large stock of medicines—antibiotics and other drugs—whose sources are not always clear. Nevertheless, the information that support for local production is virtually absent is concerning,” he added, calling for active measures to procure local medications.
