The Housing Committee approved in the first reading a loan of $31.79 million for the health of people, animals, and ecosystems.

Today, January 26, at a meeting of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security, and Migration, a bill concerning the ratification of the Agreement on Financing and the Grant Agreement for the project "Phase 1 for the Kyrgyz Republic" under the "One Health" Program was reviewed and approved. This project aims to prevent pandemics, strengthen the resilience of food systems, and protect the health of ecosystems in Central Asia. The agreement was signed on July 11, 2025, in Bishkek between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association/International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which acts as the administrator of the Trust Fund for Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness, and Response.

Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Zhanibek Kerimaliev presented information about the project. He noted that within the framework of its implementation, $31.79 million will be allocated to improve the health of the population and animals, as well as to protect the environment in the country. The first phase of the project includes three key components designed to establish and strengthen the core capacity of the system under normal conditions, as well as to support critical detection and emergency response functions. This aligns with the concept of the regional "One Health" program and emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive approach to global health issues.

Of the total funding of $31.79 million:

- $30 million is a loan;

- $1.79 million is a grant;

- the loan term is 50 years;

- the grace period is 10 years;

- the interest rate is 0%.
