This agreement was signed between Kyrgyzstan and the International Development Association, as well as the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing reported that within the framework of this project, Kyrgyzstan will receive $30 million in the form of a loan and an additional $1.79 million in the form of a grant.
The loan funds will be provided for a period of 50 years with a 10-year grace period and no interest rate. The deadline for loan repayment is set for December 15, 2074.
According to him, the first phase of the project includes three main areas.
- Combating zoonotic infections: this includes strengthening disease monitoring in animals, developing effective diagnostic and treatment methods, and raising awareness of the risks of transmission of infections from animals to humans.
- Preventing antibiotic resistance: this focuses on the rational use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine and healthcare, developing alternative treatment methods, and preventing the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
- Ensuring food safety: this area involves improving sanitary conditions at all stages of food production and processing, as well as enhancing quality control of products.
