The Housing Committee approved in the first reading a $30 million loan from the OPEC Fund to support sustainable growth.

At a recent meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with international affairs, defense, security, and migration, deputies approved a draft law on the ratification of a loan agreement with OPEC. The document, known as the "First Program for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth," was signed on September 22, 2025, in Bishkek.

Deputy Minister of Finance Nurbek Akzholov reported that the agreement includes budget support amounting to 30 million dollars. These funds will be directed towards promoting the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan, covering several key areas:

- ensuring sustainable and equitable energy supply,

- improving the provision of social services,

- enhancing climate resilience,

- strengthening financial stability,

- improving the business environment.

The terms of the loan agreement are as follows:

- amount — 30 million dollars,

- term — 20 years,

- grace period — 5 years,

- interest rate — 1.25% per annum.

According to the deputy minister, these funds will become an important tool for implementing the government's priority programs in the fields of green economy, social protection, and ensuring energy stability, especially in the context of the current energy crisis and the need to diversify funding sources.

The draft law was approved by the committee in the first reading and will now be forwarded for further consideration in parliament.
