The cost of the minimum grocery set has increased by 214 soms, totaling 7,232 soms.
We conduct regular monitoring of prices for a fixed set of products in the same supermarket. Below is the complete information about the composition of our grocery basket and the reasons for price changes.
It should be noted that prices in supermarkets may differ from market prices. Stores often have promotional offers with discounts.
Analysis shows that since the beginning of our study in late October 2018, the cost of the grocery basket has increased by 3,962 soms. Since the beginning of this year, there has been an increase of 509 soms, and compared to the same period last year – an increase of 1,237 soms.
Bread remains the cheapest product in our basket. Fresh vegetables and fruits significantly influence the overall cost; they are the main factors in price fluctuations.

In 2025, the cost of the grocery basket increased by 686 soms. The minimum price was recorded on October 18 – 5,791 soms, and the maximum – on December 6, amounting to 6,927 soms.

Nutrition standards for citizens of Kyrgyzstan were established by the government back in 2009. According to these standards, each resident of the country should consume 9 different types of products monthly.
The approved document includes: 9 kg of bread products, 5 kg of meat, 8.2 kg of potatoes, 9 kg of vegetables, 10 kg of fruits and berries, 2 kg of sugar, 17 liters of milk, 1 liter of vegetable oil, 4 eggs, 100 grams of fish and fish products, as well as 200 grams of tea.

Based on state norms, we will calculate the cost of the consumer basket for a family of four. The calculations are based on prices for products from one of the supermarkets in Bishkek, as many city residents have recently preferred to shop in large stores.
It should be noted that our calculations are approximate and based on state norms. Not all families consume the same products, and some may not eat meat or prefer not to use sugar. Therefore, our basket should be regarded as a social experiment by 24.kg.
Grain products include not only bread but also pasta and cereals. Our family is average, so it prefers apples and bananas as fruits, and onions, carrots, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes as vegetables. No excesses – just the essentials.
