- Vyacheslav Rachenko, a farmer from the Jayil district, presented his experience in growing parsnips, which is an export-oriented crop, at the "Agrodialog" forum on February 18.

According to his information, parsnips were sown on an area of 9 hectares using a drip irrigation system. The average yield was 25.3 tons per hectare, and in some areas, a record 30 tons was achieved.

The farmer noted that such results were made possible by the availability of necessary infrastructure, including access to water and electricity, as well as the use of modern agricultural technologies. In particular, a fertigation system was used, which combines irrigation with fertilization, as well as agricultural drones for crop treatment.

Despite the successes, the farmer faced certain difficulties. One of the most serious problems was the lack of accessible recommendations on agricultural techniques for parsnips. At the beginning of the season, there was also a low seed germination rate of about 60%. It later became clear that to improve this indicator, seed pretreatment at a certain temperature was necessary.

Rachenko added that drip irrigation helped to use fertilizers more efficiently and ensure product quality that meets export requirements.

Note: Parsnip is a vegetable crop from the celery family, characterized by a sweet root with a nutty flavor. It looks like tall grass with a straight, branching stem. Parsnip matures in September, and the root can reach a length of 25 cm. The parsnip root is considered a dietary product.
