- About 10% of the gross domestic product is formed in the agro-industrial sector, which provides jobs for approximately 20% of the working-age population. This was stated on February 27 at a republican meeting in "Yntymak Ordo" by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Erlis Akunbekov.

According to him, this sector is considered one of the priority areas for the strategic development of the country until 2030.

According to his data, the gross domestic product of agriculture in 2024 amounted to 396.8 billion soms, and by the end of 2025, it is expected to reach 459.7 billion soms. Thus, an increase of almost 63 billion soms is observed over the year.

Akunbekov noted that the population is fully provided with basic food products such as milk, potatoes, vegetables, meat, eggs, and sugar. However, the demand for vegetable oil and fruits is met through imports.

The minister emphasized that in recent years, there has been significant attention to state support for this sector.

He added that an effective system of preferential lending has been implemented, and targeted projects are being carried out. In 2024, the volume of lending amounted to 11.9 billion soms, and in 2025, it is expected to be 12.6 billion soms.
