A new package of sanctions from the European Union against Russia is expected to be presented by February 24, as reported by Euractiv.

Finland and Sweden have proposed including restrictions on the export of luxury goods to Russia, as well as on the maintenance of Russian oil tankers, in this package. Additionally, there are plans to reduce quotas on the import of Russian fertilizers into EU countries.

Although luxury goods priced over 300 euros are already subject to a ban, many well-known European brands, such as Gucci, Bottega Veneta, and Yves Saint Laurent, continue to be sold in Russia, but at significantly inflated prices. Many of these goods are also re-exported to Russia through China, Turkey, and other third countries, as noted in the report.

It is worth mentioning that the previous sanctions package included 21 individuals and 42 legal entities, including companies from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan, which are suspected of helping to circumvent existing restrictions. The EU has imposed a ban on any financial transactions with European partners for them, as well as access to international payment systems.

Additionally, new restrictions have been introduced against the so-called "shadow fleet," consisting of 117 tankers involved in transporting Russian oil.
