"Cash Only". Markets and stores in Kyrgyzstan have started refusing electronic wallets

Vendors are afraid of hefty fines from the State Tax Service

In Kyrgyzstan, there is a trend of refusing to use electronic wallets in markets and stores. This is reported by social media users.

Vendors are now accepting only cash, rejecting platforms such as O!Money, MegaPay, and "ELSOM". The main reason for this decision is concern about potential significant fines from the State Tax Service.

According to information from entrepreneurs, starting in 2026, the use of electronic wallets registered to individuals or their relatives will be strictly prohibited. Violating this rule will incur fines of 20,000 soms for individuals and 65,000 soms for legal entities. The tax service has already begun conducting raids to identify violators.
