The EAEU emphasized that the increase in the time required for border procedures is related to planned control measures. Kazakh authorities reported that these measures are temporary and targeted, aimed at combating the illegal turnover of goods that may pose a threat to national security.
Regarding the trucks accumulated at certain checkpoints, the EAEU added that Kazakhstan hopes for understanding and cooperation in the fight against illegal actions. The statement also emphasizes that such measures fall within the competence of member states and do not affect Eurasian integration. The contractual framework of the EAEU implies the cancellation of various control procedures in mutual trade, except in cases provided for by legislation.
The EAEU also pointed out that the partnership between countries should be based on lawful actions, as smuggling undermines economic stability and integration processes.
According to the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chui Region, on February 3, 2026, at the "Ak-Zhol" checkpoint, police and traffic safety officers organized free meals for truck drivers.
On that day, a significant accumulation was registered at the checkpoint: more than 300 trucks were waiting for document processing to cross the border. To support drivers during the long wait, hot meals and rest opportunities were organized.
This approach is aimed at ensuring the safety and health of drivers, as well as maintaining order at the checkpoint, which helps reduce tension levels and prevent possible conflicts.
Law enforcement officers also reminded drivers of the need to comply with traffic rules and safety measures during long stops, which contributes to overall road safety.
