In May 2025, Begaliev was detained by the State Committee for National Security, along with two other individuals. The arrest took place in the Chui region.
According to published information, Begaliev was detained along with Asein Turgunbekovich Torogeldiev, who heads the directorate for non-Olympic sports, and Talaybek uulu Chyngyz. They were charged with involvement in organized crime, as well as financing an organized criminal group and extortion.
According to court data, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Bishkek ruled on May 16, 2025, to remand Begaliev, Turgunbekov, and Chyngyz in custody until July 12, 2025.
The investigative authorities of the SCNS brought charges against them under the article "Creation of a criminal community or participation in it" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Talas Begaliev, former head of the Department for Combating Organized Crime in the Chui and Talas regions, has been released from the detention center.
Begaliev served in the internal affairs bodies from 1998 to 2016, holding various positions, including leading units for combating organized crime. He also headed the national team of Kyrgyzstan in kok-boru.
Information about Talaybek uulu Chyngyz is limited. His name is associated with the criminal authority Ulan Toktosunov, known by the nickname Sakal. Additionally, in 2020, he ran for the Jogorku Kenesh from the "Republic" party, entering the top ten of the candidate list.
Asein Turgunbekovich Torogeldiev headed the Wrestling Federation from 2011 to 2016, actively promoting the development of women's sports. He is also a classmate of the well-known criminal authority Kamchy Kolbaev, who was eliminated.
