According to information from the local administration, the project is planned to be implemented, which will require the creation of a road at least 30 meters wide, including sidewalks, drainage systems, and landscaping. Residents learned that the demolition of the cemetery located on this site may be necessary for the road construction.
During the meeting, the mayor emphasized that various approaches to the project implementation are being considered.
“The first option is a straight construction. As you can see, previously high-voltage lines passed exactly along this route. I asked specialists to analyze the site and consider all options. No one intends to start demolition right away; this is a serious issue,” he noted.
The second option involves bypassing the cemetery. According to the mayor, this road is vital for residents and public transport.
The mayor emphasized: “We must develop the city and cannot remain stagnant. In other cities, such as Osh and Balakchy, cemeteries have been relocated for development. The population is growing, and we must take this fact into account,” he added.
However, some local residents are against the demolition of the cemetery, as their loved ones are buried there. On February 2, they sent a letter to the head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev.
“We, the residents of Novopavlovka, express our firm disagreement with the plans to demolish the cemetery located on our territory. This burial site of our relatives is an important part of the village's history,” the letter states.
In the opinion of the residents, the demolition of the cemetery:
- offends the memory of the deceased and the feelings of their relatives;
- violates traditions and cultural values;
- may contradict legislation on the protection of burial sites;
- creates social tension and distrust towards the authorities.
