Chyngyz Jumaliyev noted that the current tariff for cold water is 10.45 soms per cubic meter, while the price of a half-liter bottle of carbonated drink is about 150 soms.
“Water is very inexpensive. It is important to realize that its reserves are not unlimited, and resources need to be used more rationally. Replacing networks and installing water meters is a step towards ensuring water supply for future generations,” he emphasized.
Additionally, he reported that the enterprise will end 2025 with losses in its main areas of activity.
“The rise in electricity tariffs and increased costs for security services negatively affect the financial condition of the company. The current rates in Bishkek do not cover expenses. For the development of 'Vodokanal', it is necessary for its budget to have an additional 500-600 million soms. We need to consider the possibility of raising tariffs to ensure the future of the city,” Jumaliyev added.
In response to a question from deputy Kazybek Ergeshov about how necessary it is to increase tariffs, the director replied that this issue requires coordination with the antimonopoly service, without specifying the percentage ratio.
“Last year, tariffs were already raised, and at that time the head of 'Bishkekvodokanal' promised that at least 40-50% of the water pipes would be replaced. However, at the moment, even 10-15% of this issue has not been resolved,” the deputy expressed dissatisfaction.
Chyngyz Jumaliyev noted that simply raising tariffs will not solve the problem of worn-out networks.
“It is necessary to support 'Vodokanal' and attract funds from the republican budget,” concluded Kazybek Ergeshov.
