In Bishkek, residents of the village of Novopavlovka continue to submit appeals regarding the construction of a road that may pass through the cemetery located at the intersection of Korsakova and Profsoyuznaya streets.

According to information provided by the Municipal Enterprise "Bishkek Agency of Funeral Services," if the project is implemented, it will require the reburial of 1,364 bodies. Of this number, 227 burials are Muslim, and 1,137 are Christian. Burials at this cemetery were conducted until 2024.

According to data from the Bishkek Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, the cemetery area may pose a threat to sanitary safety due to the risk of soil contamination from decomposition products and microorganisms that can persist in the soil for a long time.

Based on the law "On Public Health," sanitary supervision strongly advises against exhuming graves to avoid potential outbreaks of infectious diseases among the population.

The Bishkek City Hall emphasizes that all actions are being carried out in accordance with the law and in the interests of citizens. The municipality urges residents to rely only on official sources of information.

Earlier, it was reported that residents of Novopavlovka received a notification from the municipal territorial administration No. 106 regarding the situation with the road construction on Profsoyuznaya Street. The MTU noted that at this stage, two route options are being considered — through the cemetery or around it, but a final decision has not yet been made.

Local residents have started a petition demanding to stop the demolition of the cemetery. An online petition has been created, which has already been signed by more than a thousand people. The petition is actively supported by local residents.
