As part of the project for the construction of the 'Isanova' substation with a capacity of 220 kV in the Osh region, drone technologies are actively being used for route surveys.
The Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic reports that the use of drones allows for high-precision documentation of the routes of electrical lines in photographs and videos. The collected data is processed in 3D format, which facilitates a detailed analysis of the terrain, technical features, and potential challenges during construction.
A contract has been signed with the Iranian company Monenco Iran for consulting services, and environmental and social studies will be conducted in collaboration with the consulting firm Mercados Aries International, S.A. from February 27 to March 31, 2026.
The use of drones not only allows for precise route planning but also enables a preliminary assessment of environmental impact, as well as ensuring strict compliance with safety standards. This is the first experience of implementing modern technologies in Kyrgyzstan and sets new standards for the country's energy sector. Furthermore, it contributes to strengthening the stability of the region's electricity supply and the effective integration of renewable energy sources.
The agency emphasized that with the commissioning of new 110 kV overhead lines, which will be built in Uzgen, Kara-Kuldja, and Kara-Suu, the 'Kara-Shoro', 'Kara-Kuldja', and 'Karatay' 110 kV substations will be connected to the main 'Isanova' substation. The lengths of the new overhead lines will be:
* 110 kV 'Isanova – Kara-Kuldja' – 40 km;
* 110 kV 'Isanova – Karatay' – 60 km;
* Double-circuit 110 kV 'Isanova – Kara-Shoro' – 3 km.
It should be noted that these activities are being implemented as part of the 'Renewable Energy Development – Phase I' (KRED) project in the Kyrgyz Republic. This significant project aimed at strengthening energy infrastructure enhances the country's security in this area and makes an important contribution to the development of 'green' energy.
