The situation involving four minor children who lost their mother as a result of a tragic incident is under the control of Jamiliya Dzhamanbaeva, the ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic. The woman, who committed self-immolation on February 25 in the Ak-Suu district, left children aged 17, 15, 14, and 6 without parental care, as reported by the press service of the agency.
According to local authorities and law enforcement, the woman sustained serious burns and soon died in the hospital. An investigative check is currently being conducted regarding this case.
The eldest daughter of the deceased, a student at a vocational college, is 16 weeks pregnant. This information was obtained from the medical facility where she was taken along with her mother on the same day. The interrogation was conducted with the participation of a specialist from the district department for the protection of family and children.
The authorized representative of the ombudsman for the Issyk-Kul region promptly began to investigate the circumstances of the incident and protect the rights of the children. On February 26, staff from the institute visited the family to provide the necessary assistance.
The family was registered as low-income, and the mother had been receiving state benefits for the children since 2018. Last year, with the support of charitable organizations, a house was built for them, and the village administration provided financial assistance since the woman was raising the children alone.
At present, the elder sister of the deceased has taken on guardianship of the children, and the issue of formalizing the guardianship is in the process of resolution. The pregnant minor also remains within the family with relatives.
