A requiem meeting dedicated to veterans who carried out peacekeeping missions on the Tajik-Afghan border from 1993 to 1999 took place at the "Жеңиш" alley in Kara-Kul. The event was attended by representatives of the city administration, including the deputy mayor and the chairman of the city council, as well as employees of government institutions, educational organizations, and students from local schools.
The ceremony began with a moment of silence in honor of compatriots who participated in the significant historical operation in the Batken region. After that, wreaths were laid at the monument, and a memorial prayer (Quran) was read, followed by the formal part of the event.
The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of badges "For Service in Tajikistan" to the veteran peacekeepers. In addition to state awards, each of the 22 veterans living in Kara-Kul received financial assistance of 5,000 soms from the local budget, and the funds have already been transferred to the personal accounts of the veterans.
The organizers emphasized that such events not only express respect for the soldiers who made significant contributions to maintaining peace and territorial integrity of the country but also serve as an important element in the patriotic education of the youth.
