As of March 2, about 22,000 citizens of Kyrgyzstan are in the Middle East, primarily in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This was reported by the director of the consular department, Seytek Jumakadyrov, at a press conference.

Currently, there have been no reported cases of our compatriots being harmed or left without housing.

“Consular staff and members of the operational headquarters are doing everything possible to provide necessary assistance to our citizens,” he added.

According to Seytek Jumakadyrov, the number of Kyrgyz citizens in Saudi Arabia is about 6,000, most of whom are pilgrims who have arrived for Umrah. Approximately 10,000 citizens are in the United Arab Emirates, of which about a thousand have already faced the expiration of their tourist visas.

“In Dubai and Qatar, as well as in other parts of the UAE, some difficulties have arisen. We have developed alternative routes and prepared appropriate action plans,” he noted.

The situation in the Middle East escalated after the start of the attack by Israel and the USA on Iran, which began on February 28 with intense air and missile strikes on cities and military facilities. In response, Tehran began to attack Israel and American bases in several countries in the region. American President Donald Trump announced the start of the military operation "Epic Fury" immediately after the first strikes in his address.

It is also reported that the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed, along with several high-ranking officials in Tehran.

The conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate, and missile strikes from both sides are ongoing. Thousands of people have found themselves in a difficult situation due to the closed airspace in the conflict zone.
