At the meeting of the Education Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Saltanat Amanova pointed out that despite 11 years of studying Russian and English in schools, many graduates are unable to speak these languages fluently. This forces them to seek the services of private language centers.

Amanova emphasized that the quality of language teaching in the regions leaves much to be desired, which leads to even those who have studied the languages for more than ten years not mastering them.

She also posed a question to Deputy Minister of Education Nadira Jusupbekova: "Why, despite the funds spent on English language education, are children unable to use it? And what is the reason that in Russian language classes, a child cannot clearly express their thoughts?"

The Deputy Minister agreed that the current system of language teaching in Kyrgyzstan has serious shortcomings. She noted that a similar problem exists with the study of the Kyrgyz language.

According to Jusupbekova, the ineffectiveness of teaching these languages is related to the methodology, which mainly focuses on grammar and memorization of rules, while communicative and functional aspects remain neglected.

To address this issue, plans are underway to update English language textbooks for all grades, which will enable children to start speaking, understanding spoken language, and mastering reading. This will provide a more comprehensive approach to education.

As for the Kyrgyz language, a competition has been announced for the development of educational materials based on modern communicative methodologies. A request has also been sent to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education to prepare future educators using modern teaching methods," she added.
