According to the press service, the focus was on improving the quality of medical care for mothers and newborns, as well as on measures aimed at reducing the risks of maternal and child mortality.
In the country, perinatal care is organized according to a three-level system, which ensures continuity and consistency in the provision of medical services. Specialized third-level care is provided at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, the Kyrgyz Scientific Center for Human Reproduction, and the maternity hospital of the Osh Interregional Clinical Hospital.
Currently, the healthcare system has 2,167 beds for maternity patients, 741 gynecological beds, and 521 beds for pregnant women with pathologies.
The level of coverage for pregnant women with antenatal monitoring remains consistently high at 91.7 percent. The infrastructure of the service continues to develop: new perinatal centers are being built in the Talas and Osh regions, which will improve access to specialized care for women in the regions and reduce the time for routing patients.
At the meeting, a detailed analysis of the causes of maternal mortality for 2025 was presented. The Ministry identified a number of systemic measures to improve the quality of medical services, enhance human resources capacity, optimize the routing of pregnant women, and develop digital technologies in the services.
Key priorities for the development of the perinatal service by 2030 include:
- optimization of obstetric and gynecological care with an emphasis on preventive measures;
- improvement of the monitoring system for pregnant women and routing of patients;
- revision of antenatal monitoring standards with a focus on the quality of medical care;
- implementation of modern prenatal screening technologies;
- establishment of a genetic laboratory;
- development of family planning programs and pre-gravidar preparation for women;
- implementation of remote consultations for regional hospitals;
- strengthening the material and technical base of obstetric, gynecological, and neonatal services.
