In the village of On Bir-Zhilga, located in the Chuy district, events aimed at the protection of grouse and pheasants were held. These scientific-sanitary and biotechnical actions were organized in the Kyzyl-Suu gorge, in the Taarilgan-Koktu area, with the participation of employees from the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, rangers from the Tokmok inter-district hunting society, and environmental activists.
During parasitological studies, a sanitary culling of grouse and pheasants was conducted. These activities were aimed at analyzing the epizootic situation among wild animals and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
Tilek Salikov, head of the Chuy regional office of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the KR, noted in an interview with VB.KG that such environmental protection activities are conducted regularly.
“We carry out such activities on a continuous basis. There are more than a thousand enterprises operating in the Chuy region that pay fees for environmental impact. The collected funds are directed towards environmental protection. In 2025, we managed to collect 142 million soms, and in 2024 — 128 million. These funds are accumulated in a special account and go towards ecological projects,” he reported.
Salikov also mentioned that within the framework of the “Zhasyl Muras” program, tree planting is being carried out, as well as the purchase of garbage trucks and improvements to landfills. “One of our key tasks is to preserve the animal population and maintain the ecosystem of the region,” he added.
In collaboration with the National Academy of Sciences, sanitary culling of individual bird species is conducted, and they are sent for analysis to detect diseases and parasites. In case of disease detection, measures are taken, such as adding medications to feed to improve the condition of the grouse and pheasant populations.
The work is not limited to just birds. Mountain goats inhabit the Chuy region, for which winter feeding with hay and salt is organized. In spring, a count of wild animals is conducted.
Currently, there are four hunting societies operating in the region, with which joint work is being carried out on the distribution of quotas for sport hunting for enthusiasts.
Special attention is paid to combating poaching. In 2025, 125 cases of illegal hunting were recorded, resulting in fines totaling over 1 million soms.
Camera traps have been installed in the Ak-Suu gorge, which recorded three individuals engaged in the illegal shooting of deer. We became the first in Kyrgyzstan to use such devices to obtain evidence. Based on the collected materials, protocols were drawn up and sent to the Moscow Department of Internal Affairs of the Chuy region. As a result, a criminal case was initiated, the offenders were identified and detained, and by court decision, they were fined 600,000 soms,” Salikov concluded.
