In Kyrgyzstan, there has been a significant increase in the number of people who have become victims of domestic violence and have received protection orders in recent years.
According to data provided by the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, based on information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of registered cases has increased from 2,093 in 2009 to 14,362 in 2024. This means that over 15 years, this figure has nearly increased sevenfold.

The majority of the victims are women: in 2024, out of the total number of victims, 13,593 were women, while 769 were men. Since 2016, there has been a particularly noticeable increase. In 2016, there were 7,005 registered cases, while in 2017, the number rose to 7,323, and in 2018, it was 7,178. Since then, the number of victims has continued to grow.

The city of Bishkek leads in the number of registered cases: in 2023, there were 5,536 victims recorded here. High figures are also noted in the Chui, Osh, and Jalal-Abad regions.

As experts indicate, the increase in statistics may be related to both the actual rise in cases of violence and the increased activity of citizens seeking protection, as well as more effective implementation of protection orders.
