In 2025, about 900 fatal accidents were registered

According to information presented at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, approximately 900 road traffic accidents occurred in Kyrgyzstan in 2025, resulting in the deaths of 121 children. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktobyr Urmambetov reported these sad statistics.

He noted that more than 80 deaths were caused by drivers who were under the influence of alcohol. An analysis of the causes of road accidents showed that drunk driving remains the leading cause of tragedies, followed by factors such as driving into oncoming traffic and speeding.

“We are annually strengthening measures of responsibility and punishment for driving under the influence of alcohol, including the revocation of driving licenses. Nevertheless, the number of drivers who get behind the wheel while intoxicated continues to grow,” emphasizes Urmambetov.

He also added that to combat corruption risks, employees responsible for road safety use body-worn cameras.
