Specialists from the Karatash-Japyrik Nature Reserve, located in the Naryn region, conducted winter feeding activities for wild ungulates. The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that these actions took place on January 13 and 14, 2026, in the territory of Karatash, aimed at supporting animals in conditions of natural food scarcity.

During the activities, reserve staff placed pre-prepared natural feeds, including hay, branch feed, and salt. These measures are aimed at improving the nutrition of wild animals during the winter period, which helps to reduce stress factors and maintain the stability of their populations.

The Karatash-Japyrik State Nature Reserve represents an important ecosystem of the central mountains of Kyrgyzstan. This reserve is home to species such as argali, ibex, mountain goat, maral, and roe deer, as well as predators including wolves, snow leopards, and lynxes. Additionally, the reserve is renowned for its bird diversity, including the Himalayan goose, black stork, demoiselle crane, and golden eagle.
