In an interview with Ernist Kiyazov, the former head of the Financial Police, Syimyk Japikeev, expressed criticism towards the renowned writer Chingiz Aitmatov, pointing out the lack of proper direction and spiritual value in his works.

Japikeev emphasized that Aitmatov's books do not contain "hidaayat" (an Islamic term meaning proper direction) and do not contribute to the development of the reader's inner world. He noted: "Chingiz Aitmatov received praise from the Union. Even if a welder read his works, he remained a welder, and a doctor remained a doctor. I believe that his works lack 'hidaayat.' I have not read the novel 'Plakha,' but in my opinion, it lacks depth of plot and the spiritual value that should be present. In contrast, films with Bruce Lee inspire one to strive for similarity with him. The same can be said about Rumi, Al-Biruni, and Jami — their works are also a source of motivation," he remarked.

It should be mentioned that Chingiz Aitmatov is one of the most widely read authors of our time. His literary works have been translated into 157–176 languages, and the total circulation reaches tens of millions of copies.

Syimyk Japikeev is also known for his appointment as the head of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes on October 17, 2020, but he lost this position in March 2021 due to the disbandment of the service. At the end of March 2021, he was appointed prosecutor of the Issyk-Kul region, but a month later he submitted his resignation.
