In the Kemin district, in the territory of the village of Chym-Korgon, a new livestock market has opened its doors, attracting around 10,000 people in the first days of operation, including livestock sellers from Chui, Naryn, and Issyk-Kul regions. According to Almaz Dubanaev, the head of the Chym-Korgon ayil okmotu, dozens of people arrived at the market on January 25. “The livestock market in the Chym-Korgon ayil area is already operational, and we have provided all the necessary conditions for trading while adhering to all required regulations. Safety and public order are under constant control, monitored by the staff of the Kemin district internal affairs department,” he added.

The number of people at the market reached 10,000, and the number of vehicles was about 2,000. “As a result, the parking lot was overcrowded,” noted Dubanaev.

Turmush reported in December 2025 that the livestock market in Tokmok will be relocated to another site, and modern multifunctional facilities are planned to be built in its place.

The livestock market in Tokmok has become one of the largest in northern Kyrgyzstan, where various types of livestock, including cows, sheep, and horses, are sold.

During inspections, it was found that the current market does not meet sanitary and veterinary standards, as well as urban planning regulations. Its proximity to highways and residential areas poses safety and sanitation threats to residents.

In light of the above, it was decided to move the market to a new location that will be close to the current site but further away from the road and residential houses. The mayor noted that this would create safer conditions for both sellers and local residents.

Additionally, the mayor emphasized that the territory of the old market has high potential for further city development. Plans include attracting investments, including foreign ones, and implementing new projects.

The new project involves the construction of modern multifunctional buildings and the creation of a business space focused on technology and creative industries.

The municipality assures that all necessary conditions will be created at the new livestock market: modern infrastructure, compliance with sanitary and veterinary standards, as well as ensuring comfort and safety for all participants in the trading process.

Representatives of the Chui district state administration reported plans to build a new livestock market on the eastern side of the village of Vinogradnoe. “At this moment, we cannot provide exact data on the size of the site and the timeline for the start of construction. The project is still in the planning stage, and complete information will be available after all necessary procedures are completed,” the statement said.

Traders expressed the opinion that the Tokmok market had an important advantage. “If the new market is located not far from the road and meets all the requirements, we will get used to the new place. But in Tokmok, there were food and spontaneous markets nearby where purchases could be made immediately after selling livestock. Now we will have to drive back to Tokmok,” they shared.

Turmush previously reported that the private livestock market in Tokmok is planned to be closed from January 1, 2026. Inspections revealed that the market was operating on a commercial basis, charging fees for placement and sale of livestock.

The market owners did not provide the necessary investments for the development and maintenance of infrastructure, nor did they comply with sanitary and veterinary standards.

The closure of the market is due to systematic violations of sanitary norms and non-compliance with established safety requirements.

Despite warnings and directives, the owners did not take measures to rectify the violations.
