During a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova called for the active development of organic agriculture at the state level.

In her opinion, the transition to organic farming can significantly increase the export of environmentally friendly products, stimulate regional development, and reduce the level of population migration.

“At the end of September, the Day of Organic Farming was celebrated for the first time in the republic. If we do not start controlling the use of agrochemicals and mineral fertilizers, it could lead to soil degradation and the transformation of fertile agricultural land into barren wastelands. This is unacceptable. We have no right to leave a desert for future generations,” she emphasized.

Mavlyanova proposed to utilize unused dryland areas to begin the development of the organic sector.

“In our country, there are 615 thousand hectares of undeveloped dryland where no chemicals have been applied. These lands can be used for growing organic products. The introduction of drip irrigation systems will help efficiently use limited water resources and increase yields without the use of chemicals,” she added.

The deputy also noted the importance of transferring the experience of developed countries that focus on organic production. “We can enter the international market with high-quality products while simultaneously developing agritourism, ethnographic, and gastronomic tourism,” concluded Mahabat Mavlyanova.
