At the first Ministerial Conference of the International Organization for the Russian Language (IORL) taking place in Moscow, the Minister of Education of Kyrgyzstan, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, stated that the Russian language has become an important factor for the development of the republic.
She noted that "the Russian language has opened doors for our progress." Within the educational space created by the IORL, a platform will be provided for the exchange and dissemination of best practices in the study of the Russian language, as reported by TASS.
Kendirbaeva also emphasized that the study of the Russian language contributes to the development of interstate communication and will serve as the foundation for educational diplomacy between Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. She supported the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to create the IORL, which is aimed at promoting the Russian language, preparing educational materials, developing a unified teaching methodology, and training pedagogical and scientific personnel.
The Minister expressed Kyrgyzstan's readiness to actively participate in the organization's activities and collaborate with other member states, including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The idea of creating the IORL was voiced in December 2021 during negotiations between the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and was supported by the leaders of the CIS countries. In October 2023, a corresponding agreement was signed in Bishkek.
The organization is open for the accession of all interested states, including countries outside the CIS. The main goals of the IORL are to strengthen the status of the Russian language as an official or working language at international and regional levels, support quality education, and train qualified personnel in the field of the Russian language.
The Russian language will serve as the basis for the development of educational diplomacy and the exchange of successful practices among the participating countries.
