According to Kurbanov, one of the most serious challenges to national security has been the rapid spread of destructive ideas, particularly through the internet. “Networks, especially social ones, have become the main source facilitating the spread of such ideas, which negatively affects the religious situation in the country,” he noted.

In addition, traditional cross-border threats remain, such as international terrorism, drug trafficking, illegal arms trade, and smuggling of goods across the border.

To combat these risks, serious measures are being taken to technically strengthen the borders. Along the borders with Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, 453 kilometers of protective barriers have been constructed, 287 kilometers of border roads have been laid, and 44 modern electronic alarm complexes have been installed. According to the Chairman of the State Security Service, these efforts have managed to reduce the number of border violations by one and a half times.
