Bekbolot Talgarkbekov, a well-known public figure, has been detained by law enforcement agencies. This was reported by his son, Arstan Talgarkbekov, in an interview with 24.kg.
According to Arstan, in the morning, police officers arrived at his father's apartment located in the 8th microdistrict of Bishkek with a search warrant. After the investigative actions were completed, Bekbolot was taken to the Main Department of Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for questioning.
He added that his father was accompanied by three representatives of law enforcement agencies, while some officers remained in the apartment for further procedural actions. According to the son, all 75 signatories of the recent appeal are being summoned for questioning.
However, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs 24.kg denied the facts of detention and search.
On February 9, a collective appeal was sent to President Sadyr Japarov and Speaker of the Parliament Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, requesting the immediate initiation of new presidential elections. This document was signed by 75 people, including scholars, former prime ministers, ex-deputies, and public figures.
One of the initiators of the appeal was Bekbolot Talgarkbekov, who informed "Azattyk" about his views on the situation. He noted that disputes over the presidential term could lead to instability, which could be exploited by other political forces. In his opinion, the authorities should take the initiative and schedule elections for June-July.
On February 10, President Sadyr Japarov dismissed the Deputy Prime Minister — Chairman of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) Kamchybek Tashiev. Commenting on his decision, he stated that Bekbolot Talgarkbekov, Emilbek Uzakbaev, and others had used Kamchybek Tashiev's name to create negative conditions in society.
