During a conversation, Tokayev and Al Nahyan discussed the serious deterioration of the situation in the Middle East. The President of Kazakhstan noted that his country views the UAE as a friendly nation and is ready to offer assistance in the context of military actions affecting civilian infrastructure.
Tokayev emphasized that attacks on civilian facilities in the UAE and other countries in the region require strong condemnation.
As reported by Euronews, Iran attacked Dubai and Abu Dhabi in response to joint operations by the US and Israel. As a result, hundreds of missiles and drones were shot down, leading to damage at Dubai Airport's terminal and attacks on Zayed International Airport, where one person was killed and four were seriously injured. The Burj Al Arab hotel and Jebel Ali port were also affected.
On the same day, Tokayev had a conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, expressing support and solidarity during this difficult time.
The president's press service reported that Tokayev is closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East and calls for restraint to avoid further escalation of the conflict. He reiterated the importance of resolving any international disputes exclusively through diplomacy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan also reported that in light of the escalation of the military-political situation abroad, foreign institutions have been put on heightened alert. Necessary consular-legal assistance is being provided to Kazakh citizens in the conflict zone, and lists of Kazakhs, including those in transit areas, are being updated. However, the exact number of citizens in these regions is still unknown. Diplomats, together with travel companies, are assisting in the accommodation of citizens and developing routes for their safe exit from conflict zones.
