Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran
In his post, Pezeshkian noted that one of the main reasons for the difficulties and suffering of people in the country is the years of hostile actions and harsh sanctions imposed by the U.S. government and its allies.

At the same time, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed support for the protesters in Iran. On January 17, he made a statement in which he criticized the Iranian authorities for using repression and violence to control the country, adding that it was time to "seek new leadership." However, he did not specify any particular candidates.

Protests in Iran began on December 29, 2025, due to a sharp decline in the value of the rial. According to Reuters, the number of protest victims exceeded 5,000, including about 500 security personnel. Trump has repeatedly threatened military action against Iran in the event of the killing of protesters, but on January 16, he announced that he was canceling his plans for an attack since the Iranian authorities had not executed participants in the protests. In turn, Ali Khamenei accused Trump of the deaths of the protesters.
