At an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council dedicated to the protests in Iran, US Special Representative Mike Waltz emphasized that Trump is ready to take action if the violence from Iranian authorities does not stop. He noted that the president is a man of action, not just words, as is often the case at the UN.

Waltz stated: "President Trump has made it clear that all options remain on the table to put an end to this bloodshed. No one should understand this better than the Iranian leadership." He was preceded by Trump's remarks about a possible de-escalation in the country, where he believes violence is beginning to decrease. By Thursday, there indeed has been a decrease in protest activity, although communication disruptions are still ongoing.

At the meeting, Iran's Deputy Representative to the UN, Gholamhossein Darzi, criticized the US, accusing Washington of directly participating in organizing unrest in Iran and inciting violence.

He added: "Under the pretext of caring for the people of Iran and supporting human rights, the US is trying to present itself as an ally while simultaneously creating conditions for political destabilization and military intervention under the guise of humanitarian concerns."

According to eyewitness accounts from Tehran, the streets have noticeably quieted in recent days: there are no signs of bonfires or debris, and the sounds of gunfire that were heard during previous nights have ceased.

According to the human rights agency Human Rights Activists, at least 2,677 people have died during the suppression of the protests, exceeding the number of victims from all previous major anti-government actions since the Islamic Revolution of 1979. However, sources in Iran told Euronews that the actual death toll could reach 15,000 over the past three weeks.
