Donald Trump, the President of the United States, in his letter to the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, stated that after not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, he no longer intends to consider global interests. This message became known thanks to a publication by PBS journalist Nick Schifrin on the social network X.

In the letter, Trump noted: "Norway decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize... Now I do not feel obligated to care about global issues." The American leader believes that the prize should have gone to him for preventing more than eight wars.

Furthermore, Trump emphasized that the security of the world depends on the complete control of the United States over Greenland, claiming that Denmark is unable to protect the island from threats posed by Russia and China. He also added that he has done a lot for NATO and expects the alliance to show interest in American interests.

In early December 2025, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado. In January, she handed this award to Trump; however, the Norwegian Nobel Committee confirmed that the prize cannot be transferred and always remains with the laureate. Trump has repeatedly stated that he considers himself deserving of this award for his efforts in the field of peace.
