Now that Donald Trump has not been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, he feels free from the obligation to care about global issues and can focus on the interests of the United States. In a letter addressed to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, the U.S. President expressed his position, as reported by PBS News international affairs and defense correspondent Nick Schifrin.

According to his information, in the letter Trump links the Nobel Prize to issues concerning Greenland and reiterates previously stated threats. The text was also forwarded to several European ambassadors through staff members of the National Security Council.

“Dear Ambassador!

President Trump requests that you convey the following message he sent to Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, your [name of head of government/state].

“Dear Jonas! Since your country has refused to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for ending eight wars, I no longer feel responsible for thinking exclusively about the global world, although this topic will always be important to me. Now I can focus on what is beneficial and right for the U.S.

Denmark is unable to protect this territory from Russia or China. What basis do they have for 'ownership rights'? There are no documents confirming this, only historical facts about a ship arriving there many years ago. We had our ships too.

I have done more for NATO than anyone else since its inception, and now NATO must do something for the United States. Until we establish full control over Greenland, the world will not be safe. Thank you! President D. T. Trump,” Schifrin added in his report.

A source in diplomatic circles reported that the text of the letter was also sent to European ambassadors in Washington through staff members of the U.S. National Security Council.
