According to information provided by RBC, the bill was proposed to protect the strategic interests of the United States in the Arctic and to counter threats from Russia and China.

Fine emphasized that Greenland should not be viewed as a remote outpost, but rather as an important resource for national security. "Control over Greenland means control over key Arctic routes and the security architecture that protects the U.S.," he added.

Currently, the bill has not yet been presented in the Congressional database. The document released by the congressman's press service contains a proposal to grant the U.S. president the authority for "annexation or other acquisition of Greenland as a territory of the United States," including negotiations with Denmark.

After the annexation process is completed, the president will be required to make changes to federal legislation necessary to recognize the "newly acquired territory" as a state.

Furthermore, Fine believes that Joe Biden's policy has weakened the strategic position of the U.S. in the Arctic, while Russia and China are "intensifying their presence" in the region.

Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Since 1953, it has been a colony, and in 2009 it gained autonomy with self-governing rights.

It is worth noting that during his second presidential term, Donald Trump repeatedly expressed the opinion that Greenland should become part of the U.S., emphasizing its strategic importance for the country's security.
