“If we have to make a choice right now between Denmark and the USA, we will choose Denmark,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
He added: “It is important to understand that Greenland does not wish to be part of the United States. We do not want the United States to govern our country.”
Recall that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has repeatedly expressed interest in acquiring Greenland, citing national security considerations.
The White House not only proposed to buy the island but also hinted at the possibility of using force to seize it.
Greenland is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark.
