According to Trump's statement, starting from February 1, 2026, all goods exported to the USA from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Finland will be subject to a 10% tariff. Furthermore, starting from June 1, this tariff will increase to 25%.

He noted that "for many years we have subsidized Denmark and other European Union countries, not charging them customs duties or other forms of compensation. Now, after centuries, it is time for Denmark to repay its debt - it's about peace on earth!" - he wrote on his social media page Truth Social.

The President added that "the customs duties will remain in effect until a full and unconditional agreement on the purchase of Greenland is reached."

Additionally, he emphasized that "China and Russia are interested in Greenland," pointing out that "Denmark cannot do anything about it."

Previously, Trump had already threatened to impose tariffs on goods from countries that oppose his plans to control Greenland, claiming that the island "is of great importance to our national security."
