According to NBC News, at a meeting held on January 16, Trump discussed healthcare issues in rural areas and touched on the topic of tariffs. He did not rule out the imposition of tariffs on countries that do not support his plan for Greenland, emphasizing that this issue is important for national security.

The U.S. President noted: "I can impose tariffs on countries if they do not support the plan for Greenland." However, he did not specify which countries might be under pressure and what tariffs might be applied.

Denmark, as the controlling state of Greenland, has already rejected Trump's proposals to sell the island to the U.S. In recent days, military forces from several European countries, allies of America, have arrived in Greenland, further highlighting the importance of the situation.

Reports indicate that negotiations took place in Washington between the foreign ministers of Denmark and Greenland with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President J.D. Vance. Despite efforts, the U.S. position on Greenland could not be changed, leading some European countries to decide to send their military contingents to the island.

Greenland's Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt was on the verge of tears during an interview after the meeting at the White House. Additionally, Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated that Trump "has a desire to conquer Greenland" and refuted claims that without American control, the island could become a base for Chinese military vessels.
